What better week than NATIONAL TREE WEEK to announce that LIVING COLUMN is now part of the @nationaltrust collection and will remain permanently @buscot_park • A huge sycamore planted circa 1780 inspired us to create LIVING COLUMN in 2022. It is a Jackson Fawkes collaborative glass sculpture and we ventured into the technology of jet cutting thick glass for the first time. Trees are windows into the mechanics of life, with our survival inexorably linked to our stewardship of their care. Time is carved into the bark of these magnificent living columns, as they bear witness to the passing ages. • Buscot Park has an ongoing programme of tree planting and maintenance of the Pleasure Gardens… but you will have to wait until their 2025 season to visit now! The Tree Council brings everyone together with a shared mission to care for trees and our planet’s future. @thetreecouncil has lots of information on its website of how to get involved with trees and has events happening this weekend. Two weeks since Symbiose, le verre en duo opened @charleroimuseum in Belgium. Loving these photographs taken by the very talented @armon_photo . Thank you Arthur, for sharing your images of people in action looking at our sculptures. Symbiose is showing the work of 11 couples who collaborate in making glass artwork. Starting with Libensky and Brychtova the exhibition take a timeline to artists making work today and covers work created across a spectrum of techniques and processes. Symbiose is open until 5 March 2025 and is accompanied by a book.
Yesterday evening was the opening of SYMBIOSE, LE VERRE EN DUO @charleroimuseum in Belgium. We are absolutely delighted to have 5 new glass artworks between us in this incredible Focus exhibition of the work by 11 couples collaborating in glass. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with @cathou79 the museum curator who’s knowledge of glass and hard work dedicated to the delivery of exhibitions at the glass museum makes it happen there. We can highly recommend a visit to explore this historical site.
