A glass collector recently asked to see Richard’s 1st glass sculpture made specifically for the outdoors. The pieces had been moved around the studio for several years because we couldn’t remember where we had stored the fixings in a safe place we would remember! 😂 After finding the fixings we were amazed at the complexity of this artwork made back in 2001. A reminder that it is a good exercise to revisit past achievements! GUARDING THE HEART combines 2 slumped blue glass forms surrounding a clear optical cast form. The stainless steel fixings are special, Alan Evans, friend and revered artist blacksmith who sadly died earlier this year, made them with Richard being allowed to work on them with Alan in his forge. Guarding the Heart was first exhibited @freshairsculpture in 2001.
