In 1969, sculptor, Roger Leigh, held a ‘first’ in sculpture exhibitions in private gardens in the UK. In the garden of West Leaze, 18 sculptors, all men included Henry Moore, Hubert Dalwood, Austin Wright and William Pye exhibited their sculptures. A prominent woman sculptor, Barbara Hepworth, made her displeasure very plain in a letter to Leigh. The 2020 show at West Leaze comprises 30 contemporary artists, half of them women. In addition sculptures by a few of the 1969 artists will be on show.
